Stay tuned for progress pictures of the pumpkin patch and pollinator gardens 🌱 Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 2 weeks 1 day ago Beginning July 1, 2025, CRSWMA facilities will implement changes to our current scrap tire disposal process. To view the policy and new tire form in full, please visit https://www.cepnc.org/waste-disposal and scroll to "Scrap Tires." - Coastal Regional Solid Waste Management Authority will require new documentation beginning on July 1, 2025 to qualify for free scrap tire disposal at any of its facilities (Tuscarora Landfill, Grantsboro Transfer Station, and Newport Transfer Station). What must I do to for my business to qualify for free disposal of scrap tires at CRSWMA facilities after July 1, 2025? 1) Provide a completed new NCDEQ Scrap Tire Certification Form. This form is specific to each load of tires and must be provided to the scale house at the time of disposal. Parts 1 and 2 must be completed as per the instructions. If there is no form provided at the time of disposal, or if Parts 1 or 2 are incomplete, that particular load of tires will be charged the scrap tire disposal fee of $165/ton. Additional copies of this form are available on our website: www.cepnc.org/forms and from NCDEQ’s website: www.deq.nc.gov 2) If the tires are being delivered by a Scrap Tire Hauler and not the generator, in addition to the Scrap Tire Certification Form in #1, the hauler must show their valid Scrap Tire Hauling Identification Certificate issued by NCDEQ. If the hauler does not provide their certificate, that load of tires will be charged the scrap tire disposal fee of $165/ton. If you need a copy of your Scrap Tire Identification Certificate or if you need to apply to become a certified scrap tire hauler, you will need to fill out NCDEQ’s application: https://edocs.deq.nc.gov/Forms/wm_tirehauler If you are a scrap tire generator that hauls your own tires, you don’t need to provide the Hauling Identification Certificate. Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 3 weeks 3 days ago LEAF it to us--this garden's going places! Our tomatoes have taken off over the last 27 days. Check out the growth in the second picture: amazing what a week in great compost will do! We weren't sure if the tomatoes were going to make it when we first planted them (they were *tomato-tally* dramatic), but our compost must have some magical qualities! Keep scrolling to check out our peppers, marigolds, and more! Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 3 weeks 4 days ago Talk about a GLOW UP! What a great day of fellowship, fun, and hard work! Pamlico Christian Academy came out today and helped beautify our front entrance sign at the Tuscarora Landfill. Big THANK YOU to Mrs. Watson and her wonderful 10th graders! Special thanks to Rachel at Harbourside Garden Co. down in Pamlico for helping our vision come to life. Everything here is planted in our STA Certified "CoastalGrow" compost, made right here at Tuscarora by Danny and Larry, the "Compost Kings!" Need some for your own planting project? We sell it in bulk for $40/ton at all three of our facilities. Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 3 weeks 5 days ago 🏆BRINGING HOME THE GOLD! Join us in congratulating our very own Mr. Mike Bryant for winning 1st place in the Transfer Truck Division this past weekend at the NC SWANA ROAD-E-O! He'll go on to the national competition this fall. Great job, Mike! Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 4 weeks 2 days ago Lucy the Goose-y Update: We know many of you have been following Lucy the Goose-y’s nesting journey since we first spotted her on March 25. Sadly, we have some tough news to share. After weeks of dedicated nesting, it appears Lucy’s eggs did not hatch. One egg has broken, and Lucy has begun to move on, a natural behavior when eggs are no longer viable. Two eggs remain, but given the time that has passed, we don’t expect them to hatch. This is a part of nature that’s not always easy to witness, but we’re grateful Lucy chose our spot as her nesting site and gave us all a unique glimpse into the life of a Canada Goose. Thank you to everyone who participated in our Lucy the Goose-y Contest and followed along with such enthusiasm and care. We’ll keep an eye on Lucy and hope she returns next year. 💛 #LucyTheGoosey Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 1 month ago Spring showers bring garden flowers! Our demonstration veggie garden is looking extra green today thanks to the much-needed rain! The entire garden and flower fenceline was planted entirely in our CoastalGrow Compost made right here at the Tuscarora Landfill. You can get your own for $40/ton! Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 1 month ago Lucy and Goose Wayne are still going strong! Although this is past when we predicted her eggs would hatch, we still have faith in Mother Nature (and Lucy!). There is a live goose nest camera (not of our Lucy) on Raptor Resource; she laid her first egg 3/18 and her eggs have not hatched yet either. Fingers crossed for our sweet mama goose! https://www.raptorresource.org/birdcams/decorah-goose-cam/ Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 1 month 1 week ago On Wednesday, 5/14/25, the Grantsboro Transfer Station will be closing at 1pm for repairs. Normal hours are expected to resume on Thursday, 5/15/25. Thank you for your patience! Today, we planted our demonstration vegetable garden with our own CoastalGrow compost! Stay tuned for progress pictures. Next month, students from Pamlico Christian Academy will be helping us landscape the area by the entrance sign to the Tuscarora Landfill. Our compost sure is good for growin’! PS - Lucy the Goose is still sitting on her nest, but we all of us are on Goose Watch! Coastal Environmental Partnership (CEPNC) 1 month 3 weeks ago Update on Lucy: She is still sitting! Last year her eggs hatched on 4/19, so it should be any day now! Goose Wayne is never far behind, always keeping watch. Previous Next No news articles have been posted, yet.
